Yoshinaga-san chi no Tamatebako First Pressing

I don't think music for this series is all that memorable. That's not to say that it's bad because it's not, but the show just doesn't yield well to excessively memorable music. As background music, this CD works well. For the most part, though, I just wanted the first-pressing bonus, Joker card ^_^;;

CD-EXTRA (data) section contains both Windows and MacOSX versions of a screensaver, a clock program, wallpapers, and icons.

I checked the OSX version on my iBook (I have one of those!?) and they're basically the same things. OSX versions of the clock program and the icons do not handle transparencies as well as their Windows counterparts. In fact, OSX icons have no transparency whatsoever. Clock program's edges look very bad on OSX, too.

I guess Windows was their main target. Still, it's nice to see OSX support in there, not that I care that much. I can't remember the last time I turned my iBook on. In fact, when I turned it on today, its clock was set to 1969. If anyone cares, most of my computing time is spent on FreeBSD.

One note about the screensaver: It's not meant for CRTs. It has light (almost white) background on which images fade in and out while shifting slightly. Not only that, red frame is used on displays larger than XGA resolution, so it's not very effective at saving anything. LCDs don't really need "saving" anyway, but lighter color is actually better for LCDs because it keeps the panel slightly cooler than dark images.

Images (move cursor over each image to see short comment):

Samples of four wallscreens on the data track. Each comes in 4 sizes (1024x768, 1280x1024, and 1600x1200). 1280x1024 is 5:4 aspect, so they played around with placement to make it work.

Desktop clock (Windows version). Clicking on the loop button cycles through these five shapes.
