Animephile Rating: C

It's not bad, but I gave it a 'C' rating because it's just too expensive for what it is. To be honest, I liked the earlier CD-drama CDs better with Takahiro's voice done by Suyama Akio. I can see that the second OVA was an expensive project, but even so, I don't think this CD needed to be so expensive.

Anyway, this drama is based on manga volume 5 and then volume 9, skipping whole lot in between, which the OVA2 seems to be covering. These days, the manga release rate is about one volume per year, so I can't imagine more anime being made unless they change the voice of Alpha. Besides, despite the effort, I find the anime lacking compared to the manga. I guess I shouldn't talk about that until I review the DVD.

Back to the CD, it's impossible for me to ascertain it without giving myself an amnesia, but I think that if you listen to the CD drama before reading the manga, you actually get more out of it. I say that because I enjoyed the first two volumes of the CD drama a lot more than Nonchan (Studio Neko-Han-Ten) did even though I was sort of lost with the imagery. Thinking back, I might have enjoyed this CD more if I didn't read the manga so far. I'm at volume 9. Volume 10 is coming out next month (March 2003).

In the end, I highly recommend the manga and the soundtracks, but not necessarily the CD dramas. I'll talk about the anime in my DVD reviews.
