Animephile Rating: F (2.0)
- Video Scan Type : interlaced-TV (-2.5) -
dTV is able to detect 3:2 pulldown fairly well, but the thing is too fuzzy and
washed out all the time, I don't care that is detects it. I'd rather just
force-bob the whole thing.

That LD composite feel once again.

There is terrible shimmering everywhere! I don't think it's dot crawling
because I don't think dot crawling can get THIS bad. There is quite a bit of
film shaking, but when it shakes, it also causes edges to feather. Worst
thing is that this feathering doesn't go away even when the correct 3:2
pulldown is detected by dTV. If I had to guess, I would guess that the whole
thing was processed at very low resolution and badly scaled to DVD resolution.
I am tempted to say that too much edge enhancement was applied, but then, the
whole thing is so soft and in low-resolution, I couldn't possibly say that.
Comments:
All in all, this is a terrible DVD.
Look at the transition problem as well as the strange feathering/staircasing
that exists in a non-moving object!
