Uru wa Sorairo Majo 1, Hajimete no Magical Cookie

Who's the author? Yup, Asano Masumi. You mean a seiyuu, Asano Masumi? Yup. Unlike "Den'nou Coil" novel, which is written by Miyamura Yuuko who is NOT the same person as the seiyuu for the character who pilots the red Eva, this one is the same person.

This is the other book I bought after seeing her for the first time at Tsukuba University event in October.

It is meant to be a children's novel. As such, pretty much every single kanji words are marked with furigana. Actually, remove the qualifier, "pretty much." It's all of them. And the letters are larger than I'm used to seeing in light novels. Finally, there are far more illustrations than usual. I'd say there's a small illustration every 5 pages or so, on average.

Most importantly, it's good. I mean, it's well written. It's simple where it can be, but it's not dumbed down where it should not be. I think this would make an excellent novel for people who are studying Japanese, who want to move past reading mangas.

It's about Uru, who has just become a Sky-color Witch, and must train in the human world in order to move up to becoming a Sunset- color Witch. She is given just one magical power, which is the ability to make things sweet.

Since the letters are relatively large and illustrations take up space, story has to move fairly fast to fit in 230-something pages, but I didn't even notice that while reading it. Now, I'm looking forward to the second volume. Umm, there's going to be a second volume, right? After all, this one has a number 1 written next to the title ^_^

Just for the record, no I'm not going to try to make cookies based on the recipe in the book. I'm no good with sweets ^_^;;
