Toaru Kagaku no Railgun 01

Created/Updated 2008-06-28

I ran into this title on the net while searching for something new to buy, but ended up passing on it, and instead went with "Girl Friends." However, "Nisemaru" recommended this series in Nogizaka Haruka internet radio, so I said what the hey, and bought it.

First impression. Freakishly cute (at times) character design! There sure are so many amazing artists out there.

Characters are interesting, cute, and have funky relationships, and the story is interesting, too, although I'm not all that into excessive action stuff, but whatever. The only issue I have with the book is that it requires fairly high level of suspension of disbelief. The premise of certain kids having "powers" that are really more "magic" than anything else, is nothing new, but this idea is intermixed with scientific terms and explanations. That interferes with suspension of disbelief because, well, it's nonsensical.

But whatever. I managed to keep up with even "Mahoutsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto, Taiyou to Kaze no Sakamichi" just for the art work, so I can do it with this series, too. If anything, this series has far fewer flaws than MnTnKTtKnS, so it's unfair for me to compare with that series.
