Although the title makes it seem like the computer club's president created this, most of the content is nothing more than the rarely updated official SOS-dan web site, which is still available at . Since the CD-ROM is structured as snapshots of the site whenever there were any changes, there are a lot of duplicated contents. I doubt even 50MB of the total 86MB is unique content.
It does come in a nice keepcase (DVD-case), with a decent booklet and a phonecard. I did not scan any of them because I'm feeling lazy. Other contents include a Haruhi clock (Windows executable), and a few Neko-man screensavers (Windows). I didn't find them all that interesting. Well, obviously, anything Windows-only is not very interesting to me.
Background images are slightly more useful, but they're only SXGA (1280x1024) sized. Are they behind the times or what? Thankfully, I run triple SXGA at work, so it came in pretty handy. There are three types (blue, red, and blue-green) of both the SOS and ZOZ versions. I chose to use the SOS version in the hopes that I'll get sucked into the "heisa kuukan" while I'm at work. Picture below is of my work monitor setup. I'm not supposed to bring a camera into the work place without a camera pass, which I don't have, and even if I did have the pass, the pass specifically states that no pictures are to be taken inside the building. Maybe I can get fired for this. More power to me! I did blur out some details I didn't want to make available to the world.
By the way, I've been asking for monitor upgrades (I want triple UXGA 1600x1200), but nothing ever happens. Considering I'm not using any company desktop nor notebook computers, it actually costs less to give me the triple monitors than to supply me with a workstation and a notebook. Even the current setup is a result of a forceful action by me. I just took another monitor from a cube, whose occupant had just quit. Of course, they waste so much more money on other useless activities that doesn't help with productivity. That's how the world runs, I guess.
