Dynamic range compression at MAX setting!! The thing is, DRC is actually pretty useful for talk CDs because signal level can vary a lot as the distance between the speaker and the microphone changes, and the listeners don't really need to feel that ambience. After all, it's just a radio recording. Well, I suppose it might be nice to feel like you're in the same recording studio as your favorite seiyuu. Hmm, indeed. I should start demanding better audio quality in radio CDs, too! And since I won't get it, I can save even more money!
Anyway, this CD has it turned up like there's no tomorrow! The breathing sound and the "..ssss" are annoying as hell! The sad thing is, there doesn't appear to be any clipping, meaning the original recording set up was well prepared.
This radio is mostly disorganized, and the "sekuuji aozora housoukyoku kuro" side is run by inexperienced personalities (Kikuchi Mika & Nakamura Chise), not that I'm complaining about that. They don't even have regular broadcast schedule these days. Still, I find it charming somehow. I'm probably drawn by the other side, "kochira dairinkan housoukyoku kuro," which is run by Fujiwara Keiji and Akiyama Nana.
Regardless of all that, the sound quality is just not acceptable, even for a radio CD, so I will not be purchasing future DJCDs for this series.
By the way, I got this CD at the same time as the Minamike Okaeri DJCD, which is also from animate.tv, but that CD doesn't have this problem, so it's apparently not directly related to animate.tv.
