This is the first half of the DVD drama based on Momoi Haruko's real life events. Obviously, it's not a common occurrence to have a drama made for an individual, whoever that may be. Come to think of it, I don't think there's ever been one made for a seiyuu before this. Naturally, one expects Momoi Haruko to be a special individual. After all, why would anyone make a drama like this if she wasn't special? And she is special.
Despite that, when I first watched this, I was pretty unimpressed. Only after reading her essay/lecture book did I start to see the deeper meanings. I think a lot of younger generation people won't get much out of this unless each details are pointed out to them. For example, in her time, it was not common for people to have food allergies. Kids tend to reject things that are out of the norm, and even make fun of them. That's what happened to Momoi, but when I saw the scene, I couldn't relate to it because I consider food allergy to be a common knowledge (it is these days).
Other minute details also require the viewer to be familiar with Momoi's past to get the most out of them. For example, there's a short scene in which Momoi is working at a computer parts store. I didn't think twice about it until I read a whole chapter of interesting events relating to her first part-time job at a (computer) junk shop.
In the end, I still don't think the drama is all that great. In my opinion, it's far too abstract to be meaningful by itself. I would rather think of it as a bonus for her essay/lecture book, which I highly recommend. Then again, if you can't read Japanese, you're stuck between just watching the drama, or skipping it completely. I don't think it'll make much difference. If you can't even understand Japanese, well, I guess that's that.
I don't think that computer is right. 5 1/4 inch floppy drives!? She was supposed to have Fujitsu FM Towns machine (look up FM Towns on Google(TM)), and I believe they had 3 1/2 inch drives.
