Although this live was related to the release of her cover album, there are only a few songs that are cover songs. This is a good thing for me because I prefer her singing her own songs. And even the cover songs that were picked out for the live are good ones.
Video is pretty good, other than the fact that it's not wide aspect, not that there's anything wrong with 4:3. Actually, it's more like there's something wrong with almost all the commonly used aspect ratios, including 16:9, 4:3, and 3:2. I just want 1.41:1 for all camera sensors, monitors, and TVs. That's square root of 2, to 1, for the number challenged.
Audio is not bad. The MP3 data files on the second, CD-Plus, disc has about the same quality as the PCM track on the DVD, other than the fact that the MP3 version is normalized for -0dB peaks. They're both sampled at 48kHz. The encoder put a low-pass filter at around 17kHz to prevent wasting too many bits on the high-frequency stuff, and the files are only 128kbps, but even so, if I had to pick one, I'd go with the MP3 data. It's very subtle, but I think the MP3 version has ever-so-slightly more dynamic range. Also, because of some cut scenes on the DVD, MP3 data is likely more complete than what's on the DVD. I didn't do a comprehensive comparison, though.
More comments in the CD listing.
A bit overexposed, but it's probably necessary to maintain the overall balance. Reflective white is hard on camera sensors.
