I got three words. Mediocre at best.
CG scenes (ships, space stations, planets, spacial anomalies, etc.) are better looking, but that's to be expected. After all, it's been, what, three years? Character animation has gotten worse, which has been a kind of tradition for the series.
Also, even though the main track is in DD 5.1ch, I didn't feel it was utilized at all. It might as well have been Linear PCM 2ch.
The only redeemable part is the audio commentary, featuring Imai Yuka, Kawasumi Ayako, Shimizu Kaori, and the director. It's pretty entertaining and perhaps even informational.
I guess this is easy money for Bandai. Seikai series is so well respected, a lot of people would buy it regardless of how cheaply it's produced. I'm one of those people, unfortunately.
