Comments:

As a REC manga reader, I came up with two most important attributes of the manga story that make it so likeable. First, Matsumaru doesn't get any. And it's not because Aka is unwilling, either. It just happens that way for this and that unimportant reasons. Second, Aka is an almost unrealistically ideal character. She's unspoiled, and she's all yours (as in Matsumaru's). On top of that, Matsumari himself is pretty straightforward nice guy, too.

To jump right ahead to the conclusion, anime version is not that great.

On the first point, the story doesn't progress enough to really show this point. We would need at least another 10 episodes for this concept to sink in. So, despite the fact that it isn't necessarily anime production's fault, we still lose this precious attribute.

Second, anime version of Aka is a bit too insecure. Actually, even this point may have cleared itself if we had another 10 episodes or so. Darn it!

Regardless of the shortness of the anime series, I bet these two points could've been better utilized anyway. After all, producers were probably aware of the fact that it was going to be only 9 or 10 episodes long. And also, the art has outlines that are lighter than the color fills. I hate that kind of art style. I want bold simplifications, not unsure color smudges except where appropriate.

Oh well. I wasn't expecting that much from this series anyway. I just couldn't pass up getting an anime about a cute new seiyuu.

This DVD also contains 10 different versions of creditless openings, the creditless ending, Sakai Kanako story, "HA" CM, 2 versions of previews for the unbroadcasted episode (8), and a promotion clip.
