It's similar to the anime, but its story is slightly different.
For one thing, there are only two volumes of manga. The main
differences are that there's no Drosselmeyer and the evil character is
shifted around a bit. I don't really recommend the manga because
there's really nothing to gain from it. Anime was great and let's
just leave it at that.
There's a dual-sided flip-out page at the beginning with one artwork
each by Itou-sama and Shinonome-san. Just by looking at them, you can
get a good idea about the difference between anime art and manga art.
