Introductions of most of the main characters, Misha, Kotarou, Koboshi,
and Ten-chan, are similar to the anime, but Shia has far darker
introduction. It's obvious that the anime was toned down for
broadcasting reasons. There are plenty of hints of even darker things
to come.
Koge-Donbo's individual illustrations are fairly nice, but while
reading this first volume, I noticed fair amount of problems in
expressing fast movements and extreme situations. It's an art in
itself to describe complex events using a small number of static
images. It seems as though Koge-Donbo has not mastered that facet of
the art. Most manga artists get better as series goes on, so I'm
expecting the same.
And I hope to find out why Koboshi-chan has cat-ears on her head...,
maybe.
