Although I haven't gotten too far yet, I started reading the novel. I expected to find a lot of major plot events that were totally skipped in the anime, but I did not. I did find a lot of minor details that were either skipped over or were simplified in the anime. After reading past the equivalent of the first couple of anime episodes, I rewatched the anime and fell in love with it all over again. I bet this is an unfortunate thought for a lot of people, but I'm finding that anime that is created as an eye candy for the readers of an original work really can't be enjoyed fully without having read the original work. Thankfully, there are plenty of anime that are themselves the original works, such as Kamichu! and Figure 17.
Having said that, I didn't quite understand this volume too well. I'm sure I'll watch it again after I read further into the novel.
