Comments:
My personal preference for animation is more complex line drawings
with simpler color usage. Think old cell animation, or styles used by
studios like UFOTable and Xebec. The main reason is because I like
the simplification art. Besides, if one is going to use realistic
colors, why not just do live action? Of course, there are good
answers to that. For example, there're many artistic things that
cannot be done in live action films. Mousou Dairinin is one great example.
Kon Satoshi's strong point is his story telling. His stories tend to
be like jigsaw puzzle, but the pieces are well made and fit together
very nicely. Some pieces are side pieces and some are major pieces,
but it's nice to have them all. All I'll say is that this is one hell
of a ride and you don't want to miss it! And don't forget the
commentary track on this DVD, which, by the way, is not mentioned in
most retail sites.

images (moving), therefore it would have been really hard to do using
cells.
