Comments:
Kon Satoshi's latest anime! None of his anime works has disappointed
me so far and this is no exception. From his interview for Perfect
Blue, he sounded like he was not really into seiyuu then--after all,
it was his first anime--, but I swear he's become a sort of seiyuu
otaku. Just look at the cast! Noto Mamiko, Momoi Haruko, Sakaguchi
Daisuke, Mitsuishi Kotono, Kingetsu Mami, Mizuki Nana, et al.
Animation is very nice, but not always my cup of tea. Much of it is
something that would be hard to do, or impossible to do, using
traditional animation techniques. Ambience is hard to do with cell
animation. Still, because there are many different story/character
styles incorporated into the show, animation style also changes to
reflect that. Depending on the current style being applied, it works
really well or not so well. For example, I don't think the animation
works well for RPG themes. Also, more traditional scenes involving
Taeko or "Ichi" would've looked better with more traditional animation
style.
Image0: Folder and box that come with this is interesting, but I don't
think it's useful at all. I prefer to keep the DVDs in their own
cases. The inserts in the folder for holding the DVDs aren't very
high quality, either.
Image1: Tsukiko and Maromi... and iBook! :^) Note that it's anamorphic.
Image2: Interview. He won't tell us exactly what this series is
about. Not yet anyway ;^)
