Ninin ga Shinobu-den 1

You know? This isn't very good. Okay, so goodness is a relative thing, so I'll have to explain further. This is just a slapstick comedy with characters that don't seem to change much, if at all. You read the first couple of chapters to get an idea of each of the characters presented, and you already picked up just about everything you need to know about the characters.

And frankly, Onsokumaru is one annoying... thing. I can't see how anyone would disagree with me. Much of the story, characters, and the jokes, is... juvenile. That's a nice way of saying that it's lame.

Does that mean I'm going to hate the anime series, too? Not quite. I still have hopes for the anime because, well, I believe, or at least hope, that ufotable had the sense to do their own story instead of following the manga straight. And another thing I'm hopeful about is the casting. There's of course Mizuki Nana as Shinobu, and Kawasumi Ayako as Kaede, but the one I'm looking forward to most is Wakamoto Norio as Onsokumaru. As much as I don't want to think this way, Onsokumaru character can make or break this series.

So, I close with these two words. "Go Chiyo-chichi!" Or for those poor English only souls, "Go Chiyo-papa!"
