This one is obviously done by the same animation team that animated Azumanga Daiou. Some of the techniques seem to have rubbed off from Azumanga Daiou even. It's not super high detail like expensive cell animation, but it's good enough, and the method works well for this kind of anime. Domiko scenes look even better than the Nanaka 6/17 scenes because the cell-less animation technique is better suited for Domiko's simple animation style with extravagant colors. Nanaka 6/17 also has fairly simple animation style, but the colors aren't as extravagant.

Obviously, the original manga goes a lot further, but I think they chose the right combination of episodes and themes to animate. It's not too messy like the manga story and it stands well on its own. I really liked the casting of Nanaka (Horie Yui), Nenji (Seki Tomokazu), and Amemiya (Hisakawa Aya) for the CD Drama, so I was unsure about the casting changes for the anime. Horie Yui does Amemiya in the anime instead. I think Hisakawa Aya was better as Amemiya. Horie Yui was great as Nanaka, though, so I can't imagine why they changed the casting. I like the casting change for Satsuki (CDD:Ohtani Ikue, Anime:Nazuka Kaori) and Kuriko (CDD:Miyamura Yuuko, Anime:Nogawa Sakura), so it's not all negative. I really like Ohtani Ikue and Miyamura Yuuko, so it's a surprise of sorts. I don't really know Nazuka-san very well.
