This is the "Prince of Darkness" movie disc. It looks to be _based_ on the same master used for the 2003 triple movie pack release (KIBA-9979~80), but they're _not_ exactly the same.
This new release does not suffer from the annoying edge enhancement issues seen in the first remaster. As for the original release in 2000 (KIBA-78), it's not even worth looking at because it was so bad compared to either remaster releases. If you want to see it, you can see the listing for KIBA-9979 comparing the original release with the first remaster release.
Of course, none of the previous releases had 5.1ch audio, so that's new, too. As far as I can tell, extra contents like the music video and the TV spots are identical to what was on KIBA-9979, but I didn't check them carefully, so I may be wrong.
I don't really have a comment for the story content, but the art portion deserves to be called the pinnacle of high quality animation. Every piece of cell used for this movie is a masterpiece!
Onto the images, left is the new remaster and the right is the old remaster. Yes, I'm aware of the fact that I'm missing a closing parenthesis, but I am not idle enough to redo the images.
Look at how {edge enhancement} actually reduces sharpness and resolution on the right image.
