For a while, everything seemed to be moving in a positive direction, but now we see that there's more negative stuff going on beneath all that. Hachi's situation is really messed up. In a way, she did it to herself, but it doesn't change the fact that it's a mess. It's also interesting to learn more about the real Takumi, instead of just a pop star Takumi.
At Fanime2007, I managed to watch the live-action NANA movie. It's pretty crazy how much they packed in there, but in part due to that, it was nowhere near as sophisticated as the animated version. Also, I recognized the actress for Nana (Hachi). Miyazaki Aoi. In case you don't know, she voiced Yume in "Mahoutsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto." She did a good job in the movie, but anime is still better.
