Animephile Rating: F (5.5)
- Video Scan Type : interlaced-TV (-2.5) -
I swear, the opening sequences are 30 frames/sec progressive! The actual show
was shot at 24fps and then 3:2 pulldown added, so dScaler does handle it
fairly well. It's a bit noisier than more recent anime DVDs, so dScaler goes
into video mode quite a bit, but it's not bad.
- Aspect Handling : standard (-0.0)
- Compression : -0.5 -
I don't think there was much they can do make it better.
- Video Separation : -1.0
- Scene Transition : -0.5 -
Instead of large distortion that happen for couple of frames around each
transition, minor distortion happens and lasts upto 8 frames before completely
going away. It's not too distracting.
- Calibration : -0.0 -
Well, it's as good as it gets from composite master.
Comments:
After being unexpectedly charmed by "Iketeru Futari," I searched the web and
found "Momoiro Sisters" and "Yume de Aetara." These three shows are kind of
sister shows, so I thought I'd give them a try. "Momoiro Sisters" isn't as
involving as "Iketeru Futari," but it's quite fun, nonetheless. Animation
style wanders between classic simplified manga to impressively detailed
manga/anime mixed style. Regardless of the style changes, it looks very
appealing to me. There are quite a few characters in the show, all of which
are played by well-known (in a good sense) voice actors/actresses. Things
happen too fast for me to get to know the characters as well as I'd like to,
but then the fact that I want to learn more about them means that they're
interesting to me somehow. There are some similarities between this show and
"Anime Ai no AwaAwa Hour." Of course, this show is much more tasteful, if you
get what I mean. All in all, I'd describe the show as "cookie fun." Nothing
hilarious, but still enjoyable. It's only Y6,800 for the entire 24 episodes.
I'd say, that's not a bad deal. Besides, I don't see this series coming to
this country.
First image shows transition artifact. It might be hard to tell, but each of
the frames are slightly different. It takes about 8-9 frames until the
picture settles down. The distortion should be easy to spot. It's not as bad
as ones from Nadesico R2.
Second image is from the OP sequence. It has a lot of crawlies on the written
words probably because they were added as low-resolution composite overlay,
but there are no feathering during the sequence. Also, each of the 30 frames
(yes, I counted) have different information. I swear, it's 30 frames per
second of progressive information!
Also note the "composite master" feel from both images.
