Anyway, I liked it so much, I created a kanji list for it. Yes, I
still haven't finished Saishuu Heiki Kanojo kanji list. I'll probably
finish mokke 2 before Saikano, too.
Mokke (literally "Unexpected", although the intent may be to replace
"mononoke") is a story about two sisters, Shizuru and Mizuki. The
older one (Shizuru) is able to see spirits, goblins and stuff like
that and the younger one (Mizuki) has a propensity for getting
possessed. If you're starting to think that this could be an exciting
story, stop thinking. Despite the catchy premise, Mokke is far from
being flashy. It's actually pretty calm. If you were to read into
it, you'd see that it's actually more educational than entertaining.
To describe it in one word, I'd say it's "spiritual."
Art is fairly simple yet clean and unexpectedly cute at times.
Language is not too bad except when they're describing spiritual
things. There are a lot of old style writings in use, so it wasn't
trivial making the kanji list. Grandpa also speaks in a slightly
archaic way, so it takes a bit of getting used to. Certain creatures
also speak in an unusual way. I'd love to hear this one read by a
native speaker. If they made a CD drama and/or anime out of this, I'd
be right there with my creditcard ready.
