I'm pretty sure that, at some point in time, I said I'm not really interested in her. But I have a good reason for buying this. I mean, I would feel bad to attend a live in which she is featured, without being familiar with at least some of her songs.
It's actually not too bad. She obviously sings well, and her voice is very... pure. I actually don't care for that, but I did get used to it after listening to this many times. It's also interesting to note that the more energetic songs, like track 4, seem to fit her voice better, at least in my opinion.
Audio has decent dynamics, but it's because it's faked. Instead of raising the level of EVERYTHING by some constant, and ending up with everything at the same boring loudness (and therefore quietness)--I'm looking at you Victor, they took a different approach. Whenever there is a bit of punch in the music, they force it to peak. This way, they can raise the level on everything else to a degree without making it sound completely flat. It turns out, Lantis used the same trick on some of their albums. That even includes Misato Aki, whom I praised as releasing CDs with decent sound quality. It is true that this method is less annoying in the long run than the Victor method, but having every little beat PEAK at you takes the natural feel out of the music. I might have given this 4-stars in the past, but not any more. Besides, these peaks often clip.
Even though it made 3-stars, I will not be buying any more of her CDs..., unless they switch to SACD or something. I just hope this trend doesn't affect Suara's future music releases. I've got ONE artist left. That's 1, as in hitori. Don't take her away from me.
