Disappointed with so many recent CDs, I remembered how I liked "Dearest" (I My Me Strawberry-Eggs theme song), so I picked up some of her old albums. I actually ordered four, but two of them were totally out of print. I imagine Amazon.co.jp may have had a few left, but HMV couldn't get them. It turned out to be a good thing actually.
Being an old album, dynamic range is quite good, and frequency behavior is also very good, on paper at least. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound all that exciting. It may be due to the music, my mood, other recording issues, or any of the unlimited number of reasons. All I can say is that I'm not particularly impressed. At least it doesn't sound annoying like a lot of the recent CDs.
Her singing is free of peculiarities, but that seems to be her best trait, or possibly the only trait. If anything, Aa (Savage Genius) has some weird singing habits (kuse), but she's still a much better singer. Not all habits are bad, after all, depending on the music and style. Heck, some styles are defined by singing habits.
Anyway, that's about all I can think of.
