While buying Creamy Mami and Oota Takako related CDs, I threw this into my order just so I'll have something for other Studio Pierrot series songs.
1-6 are from "Mahou no Tenshi Creamy Mami," 7-10 are from "Mahou no Yousei Persia," 11-13 are from "Mahou no Star Magical Emi," 14-15 are from "Mahou no Idol Pastel Yumi," 16-17 are from "Harbor Light Story (a.k.a. Mahou no Designer Fashion Lala)," and 18-19 are from "Mahou no Stage Fancy Lala."
Most of these songs are great, except maybe the ones from the flopped series, "Mahou no Designer Fashion Lala." They're still not bad, though.
And, boy, is the sound quality nice. We're not talking about audiophile quality recordings here, but the recordings are not messed around before being put on the CD. In fact, some instruments are totally stuck to one channel and so forth. Certainly, good mastering work can make the best of the recordings, but bad mastering is far worse than straight transfer. And seeing (or hearing) as how most of the recording engineers (what a waste of the word) are clueless these days, they might as well leave it all alone. Many of the current crop of CDs make my $10k system sound like a portable CD jukebox. I think I should stop complaining and start buying more old CDs.
