Apparently, some reviewer was confused about who wrote the story for this series. For some reason, the reviewer thought Yoshidzuki-sensei also wrote the story this time, so I jumped on it. It turned out to be incorrect, and in a very bad way.
I believe that a core of a person cannot be changed. A particular trait may be suppressed or exaggerated somewhat, but the basis of a person cannot be changed. Yamada-sensei is, well, not very good at this stuff. At this point, I can't help but to think that Yume-chan was a fluke of sorts. I guess I should call it a miracle, so it sounds more positive. Whatever it is, what I wrote about the previous manga series, "Taiyou to Kaze no Sakamichi," applies pretty much verbatim to this series, too. And that plot device? I thought the point was to avoid depending on plot devices, or at the minimum, to make it subtle.
Being bad at something isn't a big deal, because everyone is bad at something. But please, can't we all try to do something that we're not so bad at? I mean, Kareno-sensei was able to write some wonderful stories (novels) based on the characters from this universe. Why can't the new story come from someone like her?
And finally, even the art isn't as satisfying this time around. I think it's because Sora's design reminds me of Natsuki from My-HiME. It's probably just me, but whatever. I'm going to let this one cook for a while.
