What was the last anime I bought on Blu-ray? Oh, "Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo" and "Summer Wars." But those are feature films. TV-series? OBA (Original Blu-ray Animation *laugh*)? None! This is the first anime TV-series I'm buying on Blu-ray.
In fact, the last time I bought a non-feature-film anime disc that's *not* a backfill of old series was... December of 2008, when I bought the last two volumes of "BLUE DROP." And even that was some half year after the release date, so I guess I can consider that as a backfill, too. So, that makes the last one I was following in real time, "School Days" in March of 2008. That's over 3 years ago!
I don't really watch much anime these days. I know about many of them anyway thanks to the internet radios, but I don't actually follow up with the actual anime. But I was destined to watch this one! <- is an exaggeration. A friend of mine was visiting and he brought the first 10 episodes (all there was at the time) of a fansub version with him. The rest history. I have all of the Blu-rays preordered at this point.
And what do I get for getting back into anime buying after 3 years of hiatus? Production error! They're now offering free exchange of the movie disc and the booklet. After thinking about it for a while, I decided to keep this as is. Instead, I ordered another copy and sent it to a friend in Japan, so he can get it exchanged. That way, I get both versions. I'd better since I'm paying for both versions!
Anyway, commentaries are by Yuuki Aoi (voice of Madoka) and Saitou Chiwa (voice of Homura), with one guest for each episode. Episode 1 guest is Kitamura Eri (voice of Sayaka) and episode 2 guest is Aoki Ume (Ume-tentei! - original character designer). Good stuff!
Set also comes with a drama CD (ANZX-9122), which is listed separately.
I totally missed this even though I watched the fansub so many times. Strange how I could see it when watching the released version. 1080p vs 720p? Nah. Pure luck, or should I say, Puella luck! w
