I can't believe how well Gainax transferred this to anime. Usually,
an anime based on manga lacks compared to the original manga (too many
examples to list) and vice versa (e.g. Figure 17), but in this case, I
find many situations that are handled better in anime, such as the
"Speed" scene -- you know, in the bus. There are of course areas that
anime lacks, but from what I can see, all those are due merely to time
limitations. Somethings (not from this volume) like the school ghost
episode is far better done in anime than in manga because anime
version actually has a meaning instead of just being a funny gag.
Anywho, there are many moments that are priceless, like Mahoro's
expressions when she's "cleaning" Suguru for the first time. Well, I
guess his expression is even more priceless.
In the end, if you're the type to prefer anime over manga, I don't
believe you're missing much, so just stick to anime. If you're the
type to prefer manga over anime, well, why are you at my site? You're
missing the wonderful voices, songs, and animated action scenes.
