Comments:
Someone on the anime-on-dvd forum said that the collection DVD had much better
video, especially the OP, than the singles DVDs. And then, there was talk
about having DD & DTS now compared to just one LPCM before. Skywise correctly
pointed out that it is not necessary to re-compress the video to change the
audio tracks. Well, I don't remember who it was that told me about the
"greatly improved video," but it just goes to show that not many people know
what they're talking about. Video is ABSOLUTELY the same! Heck, look at the
image1 below. I dare you to guess which part is from DVD single and which
part is from the collection DVD. Image2 shows the exact same compression
artifacts in the opening sequence.
Am I bitter? Nah. I really like the 4 OVA episodes and it's more convenient
to have them in one DVD. The singles will probably be collectable items in
the future. Besides, DTS track is kind of nice. Interestingly, DTS seems to
have some emphasis on mid-low bass compared to other soundtracks. Heh, maybe
that's why some people prefer DTS over DD.
