During a long static scene, which is common in anime, stuff keeps changing.
Color, artifacts, brightness all keep changing. This is just bad
compression/signal handling. I used to have R2 DVDs of this (2 discs). I
traded them for this thing because I found the uncut version to be more stupid
than cut version. (Yeah, you read me right.) R2 DVD was as clean as it can
be! Even the resolution suffers in this version.
Comments:
First image shows Sawa's hand with lots of staircasing (not due to
interlacing!), noise, and color inconsistencies.
Second image shows static compression artifacts. This image is a .png file
with lossless compression.
