Mixing up the characters with the folktales simply did not work for me. I say let the characters do something more radical yet realistic. For example, the first chapter of the manga volume 4, where an unlucky salesman keeps running into the girls, was awesome. Stuff like that is entertaining, not some square peg in round hole kind of stories.
