Anyway, when you watch a film, animated or not, that makes you
emotional, how is it doing that to you? Are you feeling for a
character or are the events in the film making you feel something
that's within you? I think a film that merely makes you feel for a
character is far less powerful than one that brings out the emotion
from within the viewer. Characters in films are fictional, after
all. Anything you feel for a fictional character has to be somewhat
removed from the deepest emotion you can feel whereas your own emotion
is always true. I don't think I'm doing a good job at describing
this. I tend to be better at this kind of stuff when I'm drunk.
Maybe I should try again later. I just bought a $50 bottle of sake ;)
No, that's just one bottle. Yeah, it was the second most expensive
bottle at the Japanese market.
Anyway, Yoshitoshi-sensei is truly amazing with his ability to emerse the viewers (or readers) in their deepest emotions. Too bad this anime wasn't as high budget as I wish it were. I would've gladly paid twice what I paid.
