"Yorinuki Muryou-san" is the abridged version of episodes 1 through
14.
Girls Selection is called that because each section focuses on one of
the girls. It covers Harumi, Futaba (YEAH!), Setsuna, and Nayuta.
Soushuuhen means abridged version. "Yorinuki Muryou-san" is also a
"soushuuhen." This one also only covers the first half of the show.
This "soushuuhen" was actually broadcasted, probably when they were
behind schedule or taking a break. The other ones were released on
a special DVD.
First of all, the opening theme, "TAKE," sung by KAKO, is so
wonderful, I went and ordered the CD immediately! I actually have a
version sung by Paku Romi (Star Child Girls Character Song Best), but
the original version is in a class by itself. I'm not saying that
Nayuta version is bad. It's just that this song is very sensitive to
how it is sung because it is so ordinary, yet so deep, just like the
series itself.
This show is never too exciting, but never boring. It's extraordinary,
yet it never loses touch with reality. It's not like Abe Yoshitoshi's
NieA_7 or Haibane Renmei, though. Abe-sensei's ability to "make the
extraordinary ordinary" is seen in those two shows, but that kind of
ordinary-extraordinary relationship doesn't apply to this show. This
show is ordinary because the things that seem extraordinary really
shouldn't be extraordinary. Basically, if you see the things that
happen in this show as extraordinary, you're wrong! And hopefully,
watching this show will make you realize that and help you see those
things as ordinary. Whoa, this isn't going anywhere. Let me try
something different.
If there were one omnipotent, all-knowing being, what would that being
do? This is something I've had in mind for a long time. Somehow,
this topic fits well here. I absolutely believe that it should not,
and in fact, would not, do anything much. I believe that it would
just blend in here and there and enjoy little things happen around it.
What if there were two omnipotent, all-knowing beings? That is not
possible, so skip!
What if there were two half-omnipotent, ~50% all-knowing beings? I
don't know. Pass!
What if there were one omnipotent, all-knowing being, as well as two
half-omnipotent, ~50% all-knowing beings? I think this universe would
turn into one that has only one omnipotent, all-knowing being, just
like the first one I mentioned. Hey, that goes against what I said!
I know, but it has to reach the stable state and there's no way around
it.
What the hell am I talking about!? Don't worry about it. Now, go buy
this DVD-BOX set.
