Well, that was unexpected. Character elimination? I get the feeling it's not the end of it, either.
I don't think a human being can "live" without some kind of guidance, and I use the term loosely. It may be a way of thinking like bushidou, it may be an achievement target, or it may even be an obsession like stamp collection. Religion is really not any different. Obviously, some guidances aren't as healthy as others, but at the moment, I think it's still better than not "living" at all.
Main characters in this manga are all guided by the desire to go to space and it's a great goal. That's all there's to it. It's kind of interesting what made me write this. I just came back from Hawaii trip to attend Momoi's live at the Honolulu Festival. Actually, I wanted to meet the fans (mostly from Japan) more than anything else, and I did. And it left me with this strange emotion I can't describe, so I won't.
