A bit too much film-grain for me to give it an A+.
Comments:
This baby is mastered from film-source. As expected, there's some film
shaking, but it's minimal. There's quite a bit of film-grain, but nothing
too annoying. Saturation seems slightly low at first, but when you watch the
real-world part, you realize that it's intentional.
Movie itself is quite nicely done. TV-series is obviously done with more
depth, but this movie is quite catchy by itself. It's not anything to die
for, but at least it's not cheesy or stupid.
First image is of the computer-generated sky and cloud with Van flying towards
the enemy's flying fortress. The text and the arrow are thanks to me. This
is compressed as the highest quality JPEG.
Second image is of the Escaflowne flowing close to the city. It shows a nice
dark background. I feel that the black-level could be a notch better, but all
in all, it's very well done.
