Due to the marketing fiasco with the DVD releases some 4 years ago, I promptly abandoned buying this series on DVD after getting the first volume, even though I really wanted to collect it. I even got rid of the single limited-edition DVD volume I had. I guess time has cooled my anger at the marketing idiots at BANDAI VISUAL, because well, I bought this.
Apparently there were some animation rework. For example, episode 12 (hint: beard) supposedly had additional hair drawn in. Regardless, resolution is there, so it's definitely not just an upscaled DVD re-release. The encoding is pretty crazy, almost completely filling 50GB per disc (250GB total!), which is an overkill for this kind of material. I'm not really complaining, though.
I actually watched most episodes at a local anime club at one point, but never finished the last few episodes. So it was interesting to rewatch everything from the beginning. This is truly a well thought-out and intriguing series.
