D.N.Angel Wink, (1st) Target: Sleeping Beauty

Animephile Rating: B

This is a reprint of MMCC-4004. It's not a common thing for a CD drama to get re-printed so quickly. It says a lot about the popularity of this series.

Cast is completely different from the anime. More accurately, since the audio drama came before the anime, I should say that the cast for the anime is completely different from that of the audio drama. Daisuke is voiced by Hoshi Souichirou. It's an excellent casting that I wouldn't have imagined getting outdone, but it was! Irino Miyu is an even better fit! Harada Risa, voiced by Tange Sakura, is also outdone, in my opinion, by Asano Masumi. You know what? I think the entire cast is good to excellent in the audio drama, and yet the anime does better in every way.

Daisuke : Hoshi Souichirou -> Irino Miyu
Dark : Onosaka Masaya -> Okiayu Ryoutarou
Riku : Imai Yuka -> Nakayama Sara
Risa : Tange Sakura -> Asano Masumi
Hiwatari : Seki Tomokazu -> Ishida Akira

As much as I like Seki-san's voice acting, his voice isn't very effective as Hiwatari. Ishida-san is much better for the role. Onosaka-san is also not _cool_ enough as Dark. Okiayu-san is better.

Okay, that's enough about voices.

First disc is a bit rough on the edges due to the need to introduce everyone, but is still very entertaining and interesting. Story moves a lot faster than in the anime and the relationship square (Dark/Daisuke/Riku/Risa) is presented sooner and more clearly. There's nothing concrete in the first disc, however.
