Shinkai Makoto is truly a talented man. In this world full of flashy
fan-service oriented anime, he continues to produce wonderful anime
filled with imaginative yet realistic, futuristic yet nostalgic, and
detailed yet subtle stories, characters, and art work.
My favorite among the three stories is the middle one. The
realistically portrayed island life really gets me.
Long interview of the man is also very informative.
