BLUE DROP, Tenshi-tachi no Gikyoku, Vol.6

Created/Updated 2008-12-13

Video Quality Rating: C (7.5)

Comments:

Commentary for episode 13 features Sawashiro Miyuki (voice of Hagino) and Yajima Akiko (voice of Mari). Apparently, it was Yajima-san's first audio commentary experience. Gotta love her!

This volume also features part 3 (last) of the interview/discussion with the author, the director, and Miyukichi.

This is a regular edition. The limited edition with a soundtrack CD (KIBA-91460) is still out there, but the place I was ordering from (25% off) didn't have it. I didn't try that hard to find it because, well, I don't know.

So, here's the end of the lastest anime I actually bought. It's a seriously rare event these days. And I have no regrets. It has a lot of problems, but I can overlook most of them, because I like the inside story so much.

I love the bonus manga story in the DVD inserts. I can use more of that. I also love the audio commentaries. After all, how can I not love hearing more of Miyukichi's voice? She says, "naruhodo" a lot. (^^)

Lastly, I love how sharply analytical Yajima Akiko is in the commentary. In fact, I joined her Mixi community after hearing the commentary.

Still like the interior design. Come to think of it, all their ships have different designs, inside and out. Must be the female-only thing. Don't they know it's much more efficient to standardize things like that?

Seriously wrong animation technique used here. This isn't a comedy like Mahou Tsukai-tai! And even if it were, it's still not as good as that legendary crying scene. Real feelings require a certain level of realism. But then, maybe Arume really cries that way. Shrug.

An extremely odd expression for her to have at this time. If I didn't know better (and I choose not to this time), I'd say she's just mesmerized by Hagino's cuteness. It's not completely impossible, but it just feels odd. Maybe that was the point. Hagino was posing for her, so she doesn't try to reverse the ejection command.

A scene like this would make a great advertisement poster. It's misleading, but isn't that the point of advertisement posters?
