Instead of leaving all the fields alone, they were blended! This tempers with
correct 3:2 pulldown detection and even when it is detected properly, it is
IMPOSSIBLE to get the original progressive frames back. I'm not sure if the
problem is from blending or from compression. If it is a compression problem,
it's unusual because it's not the normal block type problems. Instead,
previous frames interfere with current frame. You'll see it below on one of
the images. Only 1 out of every 5 frames can be properly reconstructed.
Comments:
I've always wanted to buy a series done by Watase Yuu. I also knew that
Fushigi Yuugi wasn't going to be it. I ran into a few episodes of Ayashi no
Ceres and I liked it enough, so I ordered the whole thing. Watase-san has
some interesting ideas, but I can never understand why she likes her
characters to suffer so much. Childhood problems? I don't know.
I like the title. It's clever. "ayashii -- suspicious" can be written in two
ways with two different kanji. The one they used is a character made up of
"woman" and "sky." However, the title isn't "Ayashii no Ceres." It's "Ayashi
no Ceres." I'm not sure what it means. "ayashi" doesn't really mean
anything. I know "Aya" is a name. "Ceres" is also a name. What does adding
"shi" to a name do?
Oh, and I love Kakazu-san's voice more and more! It's a fine line between
cute and annoying; and to me, she is incapable of crossing that line into
annoying zone no matter what she does! I realized this after watching
Vandread over and over. I can't seem to get annoyed by the constant
"uchuujin-san!"
Look at this image. Previous frame -- not previous field! -- is visible on
current frame! In fact, image from 2 frames ago is still visible. I don't
know what they did, but this is one of the worst things I've seen on R2 DVD.
