Every time I watch an old anime like this, I can't help but think of the phrase, "they don't make 'em like they used to." As perfect as KyoAni's current generation animation is, it still lacks the kind of human touch that old animation like this has in abundance. Perhaps the problem is that the current generation animation is too perfect, but then maybe not. There are a lot more fine lines used in character drawings of an old anime like this.

Story is also very romantic, in the way it deals with life, science, space and time. There are certainly some components that feel outdated, cliche, or even lame, but that's to be expected. It's not like newer anime doesn't depend on cliche.

Given the high quality animation, great video quality, and low price, it's an easy recommend.

By the way, Furuya Touru plays the role of the prince in this anime. He sure has been at it for a long time. He's in very old anime like this, and he's in very new anime, like Paprika.
