This is going to be super quick. I think there are way too many new voice actresses these days. Many of them come from idol profession. Admittedly, it's not always a bad thing as can be seen, or rather heard, from such talent as Shimizu Kaori. With the few exceptions aside, the pool is overflowing and getting thin by the season. As an anime connoisseur, I'm always looking out for the "special" voice actresses. Since I don't feel like getting into the negative side of things today, I'll skip talking about Yukino Satsuki. Today's main focus is Nakahara Mai. But before that, a quick comment about the lead role in Shichinin no Nana. Mizuki Nana has an amazing voice that just can't be imagined from the way she looks. She looks cute and almost funky even, but her voice has a punch like no other. Why am I talking about Nana-chan? Because it's all about Shichinin no Nana. For obvious reasons, Nana-chan was chosen to play, umm, Nana-chan, in Shichinin no Nana. No, I'm not talking about her name. Her amazing singing abilities and reasonably good acting has created a large number of fans very quickly. Now, all this talk about Nana-chan was nothing but a diversion. Because Nana-chan is getting such a large amount of attention, I have a feeling that other casts of Shichinin no Nana may not get the kind of attention they deserve. Then again, none of the other Nana sounded any special EXCEPT Nana-sama, who is played by Nakahara Mai. She has this sophisticated voice that I haven't been able to come up with a right way to describe, but I believe she has what it takes to build up a memorable career as seiyuu. Her singing voice is very special, perhaps even more so than Mizuki Nana's singing. In the opening and ending themes of Shichinin no Nana, she only has small parts, but it stands out wonderfully. Basically, I just wanted to point her out now so I can say, "I told you so!" some time in the future. Chao.
